The Three Most Famous German Lacrosse Players
Lacrosse is a game that was started by the American Indians. The game is played with a stick with a net on the end. A ball is tossed, caught, and carried down a field with these sticks. This game became well known internationally and became a popular competitive team sport. Germany started competing in the 1930′s. It started with their college teams and then filtered into the high schools and eventually they started competing with other countries. Their famous men’s lacrosse team consists of a bunch of very talented players sponsored by different clubs. These men train in camps before they try out for the team and are selected based on their talents at the position they play on the field. The three most famous German lacrosse players are Til Friedheim, Philip Maas, and Matthius Rau. The German National Lacrosse Team is competing in the world games and have just placed third in the European games during 2008. Womens teams are less popular for competition but are mostly youth based. The biggest issue for Germany is that they have inexperienced coaches and so they don’t get a whole lot of sponsoring which is why each player comes from a club that is already sponsoring them.More info here: Governor of Texas, Rick Perry, Announces “Lacrosse Week”
