10 Important Girls’ Lacrosse Rules for Beginners

Many schools and recreation centers have added Lacrosse to their list of sports. Ten tips for inexperienced girl Lacrosse players are as follows:
1. Make sure you keep moving the ball with an up-and-away motion. Downward and outward motions are illegal.
2. When playing offense you cannot have more than seven players on the restraining line and when playing defense there cannot be more than eight players.
3. If the ball does not move for more than three seconds when you are playing offense you are going to get a foul. Try to keep the ball moving or change the position of your cradle constantly.
4. Players cannot enter the goalie circle.
5. Penalties for fouls are free positions.
6. When a major foul occurs the offender must be four meters behind the player who has the free position. Minor fouls result in the offender standing four meters away in the direction which she was approaching the player.
7. You are not allowed to check someone if they do not have possession or are not trying to get possession of the ball.
8. If you have the ball you are not allowed to push a defensive player when the defensive player has established position.
9. Remember to be conscious of people around you when maneuvering the ball.
10. If you stand in the path of a player that has the ball and force them to take an alternate route you are considered to be screening.
