Here are the top ten rules for beginners when it comes to men’s lacrosse:

1. You should always keep in mind that the lacrosse field should be 110×60.
2. In collegiate and professional lacrosse games, quarters last for about 15 minutes in most cases.
3. In high school lacrosse games, quarters only last for about 12 minutes.
4. There should only be ten players on the field to play the game.
5. You should remember that there are also various rules for the net. The goal that a player has to make must be 6×6 feet exactly.Check out this link here.
6. In a lacrosse match, a player can’t push or ward off another player from the opposing team.
7. As a lacrosse player, you need to wear all the necessary gears to protect yourself.
8. One of the most important things that you should remember as a lacrosse player is that personal fouls like tripping another player is taken more seriously than a technical foul.
9. All lacrosse players must have a “crosse” or a “stick” to play the game.
10. To begin the match, the referee starts a face off. It is when two players from both teams try to control the ball using their sticks.

Many schools and recreation centers have added Lacrosse to their list of sports. Ten tips for inexperienced girl Lacrosse players are as follows:
1. Make sure you keep moving the ball with an up-and-away motion. Downward and outward motions are illegal.
2. When playing offense you cannot have more than seven players on the restraining line and when playing defense there cannot be more than eight players.
3. If the ball does not move for more than three seconds when you are playing offense you are going to get a foul. Try to keep the ball moving or change the position of your cradle constantly.
4. Players cannot enter the goalie circle.
5. Penalties for fouls are free positions.
6. When a major foul occurs the offender must be four meters behind the player who has the free position. Minor fouls result in the offender standing four meters away in the direction which she was approaching the player.
7. You are not allowed to check someone if they do not have possession or are not trying to get possession of the ball.
8. If you have the ball you are not allowed to push a defensive player when the defensive player has established position.
9. Remember to be conscious of people around you when maneuvering the ball.
10. If you stand in the path of a player that has the ball and force them to take an alternate route you are considered to be screening.

Knowing the basic rules for women’s lacrosse helps avoid embarrassment and fouls. The rules for women’s lacrosse cover everything from equipment to field size and markings, but the basic rules of the game include game play and game length.

A women’s lacrosse game is typically an hour long — high school team rules may limit the game to 50 minutes — with the game play divided into two equal halves. Only two time-outs are permitted each game.Check out this link here. A basic women’s lacrosse is noncontact and the teams have 12 players each: six defenders, five attackers and one goalkeeper, with the winning team scoring the most goals during the game.

During the game, the players must stop as soon as a whistle is blown. The player nearest to an out-of-bounds balls gets possession of the ball when the game resumes, unless the player threw the ball outside the bounds on purpose. Players can’t make contact with each physically or with the lacrosse but can use the lacrosse to take the ball from the opponent, referred to as a check. However, a player can’t reach across another player’s body to the handle of the lacrosse to check, and she must be one step in front of the person she’s checking.

You may have direct TV choicextra for all the football channels but did you know many prominent lacrosse games are also aired on TV? While college LAX is taking off the professional scene is gaining some strength, toocheck out these three cities who have recently made LAX news.
Charlotte: The city was chosen as one of 6 to receive a professionally sanctioned Lacrosse team for 2013 and they’ve decided to call it the Hounds. It’s one of the most southern locations yet to embrace the sport and it will be exciting to see if it takes hold.
Toronto: Much like hockey, Canada wants in on the MLL action. The Toronto team came about when they bought the Rochester Rattlers and it’s been building slowly ever since.
Columbus: This Ohio city is poised to be the second to receive a new team in the next few years and as Ohio has a long history of rabid sports fans it will be fascinating to see what happens. With the league often facing financial difficulties we hope attendance is high.

Lacrosse is a game that was started by the American Indians. The game is played with a stick with a net on the end. A ball is tossed, caught, and carried down a field with these sticks. This game became well known internationally and became a popular competitive team sport. Germany started competing in the 1930′s. It started with their college teams and then filtered into the high schools and eventually they started competing with other countries. Their famous men’s lacrosse team consists of a bunch of very talented players sponsored by different clubs. These men train in camps before they try out for the team and are selected based on their talents at the position they play on the field. The three most famous German lacrosse players are Til Friedheim, Philip Maas, and Matthius Rau. The German National Lacrosse Team is competing in the world games and have just placed third in the European games during 2008. Womens teams are less popular for competition but are mostly youth based. The biggest issue for Germany is that they have inexperienced coaches and so they don’t get a whole lot of sponsoring which is why each player comes from a club that is already sponsoring them.More info here: Governor of Texas, Rick Perry, Announces “Lacrosse Week”

Lacrosse has often been looked at as an East Coast sport but in the new millennium it has reached across the nation. More and more colleges are adding lacrosse to it’s intercollegiate lists and with nation television networks covering more games every year, it is spreading like wild fire. Many people are unaware of how lacrosse actually started in the states however.

The game is rooted from American Indians and was used for a variety of settlements in the past. Instead of war, tribes in Native America used lacrosse as a game to settle disputes. The rules were obviously different than today’s game but the Indians indeed did have sticks that rooted the idea of the modern lacrosse stick. It was said that they played on horses and teams were limitless meaning that the amount of players could be in the thousands. The goals were believed to be up to a mile wide and the field could be very long as well.

When rival tribes turned to lacrosse to settle wars or disputes it is believed that the losing team would be killed or marked in some way. Usually killed. Instead of the actually physical war, they would turn to lacrosse and that would be their war.

Lacrosse began as a contest between warriors of various Indian nations in the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Valley regions of the United States. The tribes played stickball as it was called at the time for religious, recreational, and training purposes.

The games were held over a period of several days and was considered a major event. Lacrosse was regarded to be much more than a game or competition. Native American Indians believed it to help in the healing process and for spiritual development made by the Creator for his enjoyment.

The playing field was any huge open area between the villages. As many as 100,000 warriors would participate at any given time. The size of the field could be several yards to many miles long. The rules were quite simple no touching the ball with your hand.

In the 1630′s French Jesuit missionaries were the first Europeans to see the game being played by the Native Americans. Jean de Brebeuf is the person who named it lacrosse after watching the Huron Indians playing it. He thought the sticks looked like bishops crozier (la-crosse) so the game was called lacrosse. George Beers is known as the father of modern lacrosse.

Lacrosse is commonly accepted as America’s fasting growing sport. One of the most basic skills that a new player needs to possess is the ability to the pass and throw the ball accurately. There are a few steps that a player must ensure to do if they want to be successful.

The first thing a player must know is proper hand placement on the stick. If the player is right handed then the right hand belongs at the middle of the shaft and the left hand at the bottom. The same goes for left handed players but just switch the hands around but in the same placement. If the player is new to the game, make sure they choose the correct handedness. Many people may write with their right hand but play lacrosse with their left. After the hands are in the correct placement, it is now time to commence throwing. The player should put the stick parallel to the ground and over their shoulder (Right hand players over their right shoulder and left hand players over their left). Once this is done, the next step is for the player to take a step towards their target. Right handed players should step toward the target with their left foot and vice versa for the lefties. After the step players should push forward with their top hand and pull back with their bottom hand. After the motion of the throw is looking good, aiming their pass should be taught. The easiest way to throw an accurate pass is to focus on the follow through. The player should point the head of their stick directly at their target. If the head of the stick is pointing down after the throw, the ball will end up on the ground as well. Players should always remember to follow through at the target and have their hands in the correct spot.
